Additional information
Why we struggle to sleep and measures to improve sleep and nighttime relaxation
Often the stress of the day causes us to oversynthesize the stress hormone (cortisol) and, in order to fall asleep, cortisol levels need to be low for the night’s hormone, melatonin, to be synthesized.
If stress puts us in a situation of stiffness and body tension, this will harm the relaxation necessary to fall asleep.
It is recommended that we can include in our daily lives, modes of relaxation such as practicing yoga and meditation before sleeping.
There are also foods rich in tryptophan such as bananas, nuts and milk that help you fall asleep. Magnesium, on the other hand, helps with relaxation.
It can happen that if we eat too much or too late, or drink alcohol, our body does not rest properly and we can even have night awakenings.
