Brief description of the presentation:

Women face many health challenges throughout their lives. In adolescence, the use of oral contraceptives carries a risk of thrombosis. This risk continues during the childbearing years, particularly during pregnancy. As women reach maturity, menopause presents new challenges, such as a drop in estrogen levels and visible side effects such as hot flashes. However, the impact of menopause goes beyond these symptoms. Many women avoid hormone replacement therapy (HRT) because of concerns about breast cancer risk. However, with proper genetic testing and screening, it is possible to manage these risks and use HRT safely. In modern cancer treatment, patient genetics are crucial for personalized therapy. This is called pharmacogenetics. Pathologists analyze genetic markers in tumors to suggest targeted therapies that are more precise and less aggressive, reducing adverse effects and improving efficacy. This approach is supported by organizations such as the FDA, EMA, AEMPS, CPIC, and DPWG. Considering that many patients take medications for other diseases, evaluating drug interactions and genetic polymorphisms is essential to avoid toxicity or treatment failure. The use of personalized prescribing tools in conjunction with pharmacogenetics helps optimize therapy, reducing adverse effects and improving breast cancer treatment outcomes.
